Kid’s Music Play will offer group and individual children’s guitar and keyboard lessons. The classes for ages 7 will be taught in an age appropriate manner and with awareness that often children simply are not able to read sheet music and yet are able to learn to play music beautifully.
Group lessons alone or in addition to individual lessons add a layer of enjoyment for children to learn to play instruments because they will be with peers interested and learning together. Parents are expected to stay for the lessons for children six and younger.
Traditional Suzuki method of teaching piano recognizes an importance for children to train on a traditional piano. Kid’s Music Play embraces many of the Suzuki methods of teaching music to children and yet sharing the experience of learning to play an instrument at an early age should not be just for those who have access to a full size piano.
Suzuki based training for guitar is not common. Besides needing to purchase a sized appropriate guitar, (nylon strings highly recommended) learning correct fingering positions requires the build up of hand strength and finger strength. Guitar lessons before age 8 is not for every child and if child does not embrace the challenge at an early age it should not be taken as a sign to abandon guitar all together. Keyboard/piano classes provide a fantastic background to branch to other instruments in the future.
Information regarding music classes for the young will continue to be added in a rapid manner so check back to have more of your questions answered. Lessons are fantastic start to enhancing your child’s life with music but parents/caregivers play a very important part in your child’s feelings of success.
Above all music classes are recognized by Kid’s Music Play as an extra activity for children and our number one focus is to keep the classes fun and enjoyable. A desire by a child to want to learn more and be able to perform more is partly in the child and partly created by positive reactions and support by family and friends. Building a supportive community that builds a child’s self-esteem is the goal for Kid’s Music Play.
